Speaking Topic: Starting a Hospital Based 3D Printing Lab and North American Reimbursement Efforts

Nicole Wake is the Director of the 3D imaging lab at Montefiore. In the lab she does clinical 3D imaging for the radiology department. She also runs their 3D printing initiative and implements 3D printing clinically within the hospital. Besides, she is the Treasurer for the RSNA 3D Printing Special Interest Group (SIG) from 2019. The top two goals for the SIG include the following: 1) Gather clinical evidence to show the added value of 3D printing in medicine (needed to support Category I CPT code), 2) Set quality standards for 3D printing in hospitals. Her main research is actually from NYU, where she is currently an adjunct instructor in the department of radiology. The research is focused on investigating the impact that patient-specific 3D printed kidney and prostate cancer models can make in patient care which is one of the largest clinical trials investigating the use of 3D printing models in clinical practice.
